One of my favorite things about living in San Francisco is its unique and cool houses. After the first 3 weeks of quarantine and walking the same neighborhood, quarantine fever had us going to different neighborhood and parks for our daily walks. Some new neighborhoods we never had been before and other times we revisited what we liked. Here’s a roundup of what I’ve discovered so far and where they’re located so you can go check them out too.
1. Rainbow House
Noe Valley: On Clipper St beween Diamond St and Douglass Playground
I love color and felt like there was a pot of gold at the end of this house. I wonder how long it took to paint each slab to get this ombre rainbow shade.
2. Swedish Cottage
Castro District: On Castro St between Alvarado St and 22nd St.
Came across this house when we were passing through Noe Valley to Castro District. There was just something so sweet about this house. The perfect paint job and delicate yellow accents, it was worth climbing up the hill it sits on.
3. Sherbert Building
Noe Valley: On Noe St between Clipper St and 26 St
We actually stumbled upon this building when we were looking to move and the building a few doors down was available. Maybe if this building was available we would have actually moved.
4. Painted Ladies
Nopa: In front of Alamo Square Park
The fairest of them all…the Painted Ladies. Located right across from Alamo Square Park, the this setting is so picturesque. Shockingly, I’m not sure how I managed to get this shot with no cars in front.
Also, did you know that painted ladies are actually houses that have three or more colors that embellish their architectural details (or so Wiki says).
5. Full House
Lower Pac Heights: On Broderick St between Pine St and Bush St
Every childhood’s favorite 5pm show, this is the famous house of the Full House sitcom. I actually thought this was located where the Painted Ladies were but its actually a few blocks away. Its in a row of 4-5 prestige looking houses, including the cute one next door with the planter boxes.
6. Disney Houses
Castro District: On Hartford St between 18th St and 19th St
They should call this street Disney Row. The house on the left is where Sleeping Beauty and her Prince would live and the one on the right is where Mike and Sully from Monster’s Inc would live. The rest of the street just needs to get on board now.
7. Lisa Frank House
Mission: Corner of San Jose and Ave and 24th St
I died when I found this house. Lisa Frank was my favorite stationary as a kid and this house reminds me of that. The bright colors and pink hues make me really happy. Ugh, so happy I want it.
8. Happy Pride House
Castro District: On 17th St between Church St and Sanchez St
Somewhere over the rainbow. This would be a cool house to live in.
9. Pelican House
The Mission: On York St between 24th St and 25th St
We found this house when we street parked right in front because we were going to have lunch at La Taqueria. The artist of the house is actually the same artist that paints the koi fish you find throughout the city.
10. Mural House
The Mission: Corner of York St and 25th St
This house is right down the street from the Pelican House. The colors, the details, the creativity – its hard to miss.
