Welcome to paradise! Home to the flamingos, iguanas and pelicans. Flamingo Island is free if you’re staying at the Renaissance Hotel (both the Ocean Suites or Casino Resort include free boat ride over) and its only about 10 minutes to get to (Read here for rest of our Aruba stay). I think its about $100 if you’re not a guest. Flamingo Island is divided into two main areas. One larger beach that’s for everyone and one smaller island that’s for Adults only. We found the Adults only side to be where the flamingos were and where we ended up spending most of our time. We came to this island probably 5-6 time as this was our preferred beach of choice compared to the one at the hotel. Both sides have an eatery, although the restaurant on the beach where everyone is allowed has a bigger dine in restaurant. The adults only side has a cute shack which includes pretty much the same menu.
What out for these iguana guys. Theyre harmless but some of them are HUGE!!! And if you’re lounging in the sun on a beach chair, theres a good chance that some will crawl into your beach lounger with you.
Grab flamingo food on the bridge to the adults only beach. Bring quarters! (25 cents gets you a handful of flamingo food)
Adult side only beach shack. Grab a burger, Balashi Beer, sandwich, or even a pina colada! Honestly, everything was good. There are waiters servicing the lounge chairs or you can go order at the shack and let them know where you’re sitting.
Don’t forget to explore the full island by walking to both ends of the island. The adults only side has a nice path filled with mangroves and on the side of the island past the beach for both kids and adults is where the baby flamingos are. Be on the lookout as theyre mostly white and were hiding in the bushes.
